Gene Roddenberry launched a phenomenon in which passionate enthusiasts became a veritable cult of physicists, teachers, aerospace engineers, housewives, senators, children, and intellectuals.
The creative influence of Gene Roddenberry has affected global culture. His imaginings (and bullheaded Hollywood gamesmanship) inspired of minds on all seven continents.
On Thursday, October 24, 1991 Gene Roddenberry passed away and a world not so far away mourned the loss of one of television's foremost pioneers. He is survived by his first wife Eileen Anita Rexroat and his daughter Dawn Alison Roddenberry and son, Rod Roddenberry (by his second wife Majel Barrett [deceased]). Gene's second daughter, Darlene, passed to an auto accident in 1995.
